Obituary of Beatriz Citizen

Beatriz Citizen passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, February 3, 2020 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico to Carlos Valenzuela Samaniego and Sara Salido on August 17, 1930, the youngest of six children.

Beatriz was preceded in death by her mother, Sara, her father, Carlos, her brother Carlos, her sisters Yalia, Haydee, and Zarina, and her son, Erik. In addition to her daughters Yvette and Angela, she is survived by her sister Esther, her sister-in-law Silvia, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

Beatriz will be remembered as a beloved mother, sister, and friend. She was gracious, generous, and unconditionally loved the people who were close to her. Her ability to regale others for hours with colorful anecdotes revealed a deep love of life and human connection. Beatriz was a charitable person who displayed constant compassion for the less fortunate and always had time for her family and friends. She will never be forgotten.

Visitation services followed by a rosary will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 7 at Brings Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85710, and a mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd., Tucson, AZ 85711.
