When it comes to brothers, I won the lottery. My brothers at times made me laugh oh, so hard and Jack always, always, always made me smile.
It has been a few years since he threw me on his shoulders and carried me up blueberry hill, but he has continued to carry me in so many ways. As the elder of our tribe there was no better example. He was the most supportive person to family and friends that I have ever met.
He always had such a pleasant, affable manner. I can hear him humming to himself as our happy wanderer.

The time spent with my Grandparents in Arizona/The Adirondacks playing tennis, crosswording, hiking, playing cards (only Phase 5 and Pinochle of course), singing, and eating Grandpa's delicious blueberry pancakes are some of my most cherished memories. He was a big influence in all of his grandchildren's lives and we are forever grateful for the years we got to spend with him. He is greatly missed and will always be remembered for his jolly laugh and kindness.

What a wonderful photo of Jack! I have many, many, many fond memories of both Jack and Rhoda while spending summers in the Adirondacks. We were tennis buddies first and we expanded our friendships from there! Both Jack and Rhoda introduced me to several activities that were suitable for a summer Adirondack experience, such as; the Raquette Lake Chicken BBQ, the 90 mile canoe race and several doable hiking trails! We still refer to Jack Hubbard when someone throws up a lob while playing tennis...the lob was one of Jack’s signature tennis shots! He will be missed, but never forgotten! My condolences to the whole family on their loss! Phyllis Mishalanie

We enjoyed Jack's company from our very first meeting in Monterrey, CA. Over the last forty-plus years, our times together have ranged from Brockport, NY to the Adirondacks, with several coinciding sabbaticals and visits in Arizona. Good memories include fun travels to Hawaii, Canada and other locales. He will be greatly missed. Ray and Cheryl

From early morning fires at the cabin to keep our little toes warm to teaching us about wildflowers, clouds, and birds on our long hikes. There is no better grandpa in the world. Thank you for being a gentle teacher throughout all of our lives. You live on in each and every one of your grandchildren. I love and miss you, Lizzy

That is beautifully written Lizzo. I could see through the years in the Adirondacks that he was a great grandpa. I’m so sorry for your loss!

Jack was such a great neighbor, sitting out on his front patio here in Civano, greeting everyone as they walked by, reading, working on crossword puzzles, watching the birds, and pointing out the wildlife, including a Great Horned Owl that sometimes sat in the tree across the street at sunset. I miss his presence, his laugh and his intelligence. Jack and Rhoda have always been so blessed to have such a great family of kids, grandkids and friends.

Jack was a friend along with Rhoda, his wife of many years. I was happy to have spent a day with them both this past Spring. While living in Tucson we shared many hikes and bagel brunches. His gentle nature, endless kindness, and knowledge of the natural world around us will always be with me.

Wonderful photo of Jack with his wonderful smile and good humor for everyone. Jack was the finest of Tucson friends and Ernie and I shared many happy times together — at tennis and hikes, trips and events, meals and parties. Jack was the “sweeper” on our hikes, at the end of the group gently looking out for stragglers including Ernie.
In his modest and low key manner Jack was always ready to share his love and knowledge of nature with others, a key to his lifelong career as teacher/scientist. Jack’s life was a life well lived, one shared generously with others.
I am grateful and fortunate to have Jack as a friend and send condolences and continuing love to Rhoda and the Hubbard family.

Fond memories, every time I was privileged to visit with John I was amazed at how eager he was to share his broad range of experiences and knowledge. John always made you feel that there really is no such thing as a "stupid question".
