Carolyn Dunn

Obituary of Carolyn Kelson Dunn

Carolyn Kelson Dunn passed unexpectedly at the age of 73 from a pulmonary embolism on November 6, 2019.

She was born March 9, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Nelda Hyer and Lolan Kelson. Carolyn was the youngest of 5 children, Julene, Jed, Clair, Richard and Carolyn.

Carolyn grew up in Hollywood and attended John Marshall High School. She attended Brigham Young University where she met Darryl Dunn. They married in the Los Angeles Temple November 23, 1968. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage and raised 3 children and 5 grandchildren in Tucson, Arizona over the past 45 years. Carolyn was able to spend 2 days in heaven before the newest grandchild was born.

Carolyn loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings. She enjoyed working with the young women in the church. She and Darryl served a mission for 18 months in the Nashville, Tennessee area. They enjoyed sharing the gospel and working with the other missionaries there. She and Darryl also enjoyed working in the Tucson temple for the last 2 years and in the Mesa, Arizona temple for 2 years prior.

Carolyn leaves us with memories of German chocolate cakes, painting, quilting, graphic design, laughter and the Oak Ridge Boys. She taught us to create our own fun and to have courage in hard situations. She encouraged us to stay strong in our faith and have confidence in our abilities.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Darryl; sons Brent (Anjanette) and Richard (Whitney); daughter Emilee (Tim) Hardt; 6 grandchildren Jacob, Andersen, Lucy, Holland, Mia and Brandon; sister Julene Acton (Don); along with many loved extended family and friends.

The family will visit with friends and hold a viewing on Friday, November 15th 5:00-7:00 at Bring’s Broadway Chapel 6910 E Broadway, Tucson, AZ 85710.
