Salvador Robert (Bob) Rodriguez (1954-2019)

A husband, father, uncle, humanitarian, Good Samaritan, Community Activist and Army veteran left us peacefully on August 29, 2019 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born June 7, 1954 in Tucson, AZ.

Bob was preceded in death by parents Salvador and Herminia Rodriguez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years; Sheri Rodriguez, and their three children; Veronica, Samantha and Gabriel, siblings; Bert (Marion), Patsy (Curt), Manny (Jeanne), and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a stay at home dad who loved his family deeply and fully embraced his role as the primary homemaker and caregiver. An instructor at heart who enjoyed teaching children and sharing knowledge with others. Bob shared his love of geology in the classroom and volunteered at his children’s schools. He was a remarkable bolster and champion volunteer, advocate and humanitarian in his community. Bob was one of the founding board members of the nonprofit VOICES, Inc., a documentary arts program for at risk youth in Tucson. He also volunteered with United Way, various neighborhood youth programs and represented the Westside Coalition by participating in the Neighborhood Summer Youth Employment Program. Bob lobbied for grants to improve Menlo Park and neighborhood roads. Watching over the elderly in his neighborhood and helping with minor repairs to their homes was another one of his passions. While volunteering throughout the community and local businesses, Bob had one goal in mind, to make life better for the people in his community.

Bob touched so many lives and improved them, in both big and small ways, always leading by example, creating opportunities for the youth and disadvantaged and assisting the elderly. His heart was as big as this abundant and generous Sonoran Desert we live in and he always had a smile that would fill your heart.

A Celebration of Life event will be held at Whistle Stop Depot, 127 West 5th Street, Tucson, AZ on Saturday September 28th, 2019 from 4-8 p.m.

Food will be provided.
