Obituary of Robert Joseph Frye

With deeply grieving hearts, we share the very sad news that Robert Joseph Frye, 69, passed away on Tuesday, 18th June 2019 in Tucson, Arizona. Robert was the first Christmas baby born on 25th December 1949. He was a most beloved brother, uncle and friend. Robert earned a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology, and spent his academic career at the University of Arizona. He continued teaching as well as doing research after retiring. In his spare time, he read voraciously and wrote poetry. He will be remembered for his selfless kindness and generosity, his easy-going disposition, and his quick wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his sisters Nancy and Katie and brother Tom and their families, and a circle of very close friends. In honor of Robert’s wishes, there will be no service. His ashes will be scattered both in the ocean in Florida as well as at the location of his cactus research in the Grand Canyon. He left us much too early and we miss him dearly. We will forever cherish our memories of him and will always carry him in our hearts.
