Nancy was always “Mrs. Napoli” to me as she was my 8th grade American History teacher at Ponce DeLeon Jr. High in Coral Gables, Florida in 1966-1967.
I admired her so much and always remembered her as my favorite teacher.
My home life was a bit unstable and I remember confiding in her and told her of when I’d been at a party playing spin the bottle and was kissed. I also would talk to her about the assassination of JFK and I read everything I could find on the Kennedy family. I told her I wrote a letter to Senator Bobby Kennedy and brought his personally signed letter of reply to show her.
She told the class that year that she was expecting a baby and a classmate and I arranged a baby shower for her. The baby would have been born in 1967.
When the school year was over the kids would ask their friends and teachers to sign their autograph books. I still have mine and I often remembered that she wrote that I was an inspiration to her as a teacher.
She was a role model and lifelong inspiration to me!

a student on whose life she left a beautiful lasting impression.
(I have thought of her often and searched for her for years once the internet was in everyone’s home. Sadly it was only tonight that I found her obituary.)
Mrs. Napoli you have as always been an angel in my memory.
Words cannot express what your friendship meant to me. We always had so much fun and I miss that wonderful laugh of yours! You will always be in my heart and your memory will live on forever! Miss you my BFF!!! ❤️
She was my village and will be greatly missed. Her warm child like heart could always brighten even the darkest of rooms. I pray you found your eternal Disney World.
