Nancy was always “Mrs. Napoli” to me as she was my 8th grade American History teacher at Ponce DeLeon Jr. High in Coral Gables, Florida in 1966-1967.
I admired her so much and always remembered her as my favorite teacher.
My home life was a bit unstable and I remember confiding in her and told her of when I’d been at a party playing spin the bottle and was kissed. I also would talk to her about the assassination of JFK and I read everything I could find on the Kennedy family. I told her I wrote a letter to Senator Bobby Kennedy and brought his personally signed letter of reply to show her.
She told the class that year that she was expecting a baby and a classmate and I arranged a baby shower for her. The baby would have been born in 1967.
When the school year was over the kids would ask their friends and teachers to sign their autograph books. I still have mine and I often remembered that she wrote that I was an inspiration to her as a teacher.
She was a role model and lifelong inspiration to me!
Margie Scott -
a student on whose life she left a beautiful lasting impression.
(I have thought of her often and searched for her for years once the internet was in everyone’s home. Sadly it was only tonight that I found her obituary.)
Mrs. Napoli you have as always been an angel in my memory.

My heart just breaks for you, Lisa. And for Ryan and James. I know how very close you were with your mom and how deeply you will miss her. Although I hadn't seen her some time, I'm so glad I got to know her and I loved her fun and vibrant personality. You were so blessed to have her in your life. I hope those joyful memories will be a source of healing for you in this difficult time. Sending you and your family love and hugs.

Lisa and family,
I wish I could be there in person to tell you how much Nancy meant to our family. I first met Nancy when we began working together at Jose Marti Middle School in 1987. Although we were in different departments, she in Language Arts and I in Mathematics, we met at a faculty function and became close friends from the beginning. I had the pleasure to work collaboratively with Nancy on the Technology Team and the Grant Writing Team at JMMS, in addition to numerous other school-based committees; and I can vouch that Nancy was truly the most talented wordsmith I’ve ever known. We often joked that we never needed to consult a thesaurus, dictionary, or spell-checker, if Nancy was in the room. Additionally, Nancy’s humor and cheerful spirit kept us all entertained and made our long days and evenings spent on school projects more pleasurable.
Nancy was one of the first teachers at JMMS who held and cuddled my newborn daughter Caitlin, who is now 29 years old. She kept up with Caitlin through the years and always greeted and chatted with Caitlin when she visited our school. Nancy also became friends with my husband Jim and joined us for meals numerous times throughout the years. After Nancy left JMMS and moved away, we’ve stayed in touch by phone, emails, texts, and letters. Nancy sent numerous gifts for my first grandchild Sadie who is now almost five years old.
I will truly miss being able to pick up the phone and chat with my wonderful friend or to read her inspiring email messages telling me all about her trips with old friends, your family activities, and especially stories about her awesome grandson Ryan. Nancy was always positive and hopeful regarding her medical issues in the past few years. She would briefly mention how she was feeling and then quickly move on to pepper me with questions about my family and our lives. Nancy was a great woman, and I’m blessed to have known her as a treasured friend for more than 30 years.
We are so sorry for your loss, Lisa. May God give you peace in your sorrow, knowing that Nancy touched so many lives with sunshine and love.

Lisa,
Your mom's loving, compassionate, fun, adventurous spirit is alive and always will be in my heart, as I know she will be in yours. I have so many fond Miami memories and will always remember your mom's kindness, sincerity and sense of fun. She was a stabilizing force in our chaotic world and always treated my brother, Jason, and me as if we were her own children. And Lisa, I always felt you were the sister I never had. We are family.
I'm grieving with you and the rest of your family and I'm also celebrating with you the unique and remarkable light that is Nancy, a most beautiful and cherished soul. I feel so blessed and grateful to have had Nancy in my life.
With all my love and light,
Kirsten

Oh, Lisa! I am so sad, and I grieve for all of us who knew her and loved and laughed and cried with her. She was SOOOO beautiful. I regret we didn't get together in later years--where did they go?----but I'm so happy we did reconnect and get to share phone conversations and e-mails. I will always miss her. She helped Kirsten and Jason and me during such a painful and chaotic time in our lives, and I'm so grateful for her friendship and support. She was a very nurturing and compassionate person. She has blessed many of us. I want to hear about the polka dot car!
What a beautiful tribute you prepared to honor her! I'm giving you hugs--RIGHT NOW--and I will continue to think of you and your wonderful family. Nancy was so crazy about your family--especially did she dote on Ryan. What a handsome young man, and I know he must be devastated. Please let's keep in touch. Much love, Lynda
Kirsten is taking her last exam today in the registered nurse program at Western Carolina University, and Jason is in Gulfport, Mississippi, for the Navy. He's a Seabee Senior Chief and has been at GTMO and in Afghanistan.

She was my village and will be greatly missed. Her warm child like heart could always brighten even the darkest of rooms. I pray you found your eternal Disney World.
