Colleen Ann Horner

Colleen was born at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, to Mary (Kelly) and Thomas Flahie, the second of four children.  Her family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1960, where she was a resident for 58 years.  She met her husband Patrick Horner while attending high school in Tucson, Arizona, and they married when she was a Junior in the College of Nursing at the University of Arizona.  After graduation, Colleen went to work as a trauma nurse at the University of Arizona Medical Center.  She then joined the staff of Tucson Medical Center, where she held positions as a staff nurse, charge nurse and manager of the post-critical care unit and as the manager and charge nurse lead of the central monitoring unit.  She worked at Tucson Medical Center for 32 years.

Family was always the center of Colleen’s life.  She spent time with, shared experiences with and had a special relationship with each member of her large extended family.  She was also a compassionate and highly-skilled nurse and she treated the hospital staff and patients like they were also her family.  Most of all, Colleen loved everything about Christmas.  Christmas was a special time to spend with the people she loved and celebrate with family, friends and co-workers.

Colleen is survived by Patrick, her devoted husband of 40 years, and their two children: Brigid (Travis) and Kelly (Michael), and five grandchildren: Madden, Chase, Brianna, Isabella and Logan.  She is also survived by her mother Mary, brother Thomas (Janice) and sisters Maureen (Henry) and Irene (Mark).  She was preceded in death by her father Thomas.

The funeral will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (215 S. Craycroft Rd.) in Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, February 7 at 10:00 AM.
