Obituary of Marie Iorio Barrentine

Marie Ann Barrentine (née Iorio) passed away in Tucson, AZ on April 2, 2018 at the age of 69.

Marie was born on January 5, 1949 in Fort Knox, KY to Herman and Agnes Iorio.  She graduated from State University of New York Plattsburg in 1970 with a degree in Nursing.  She went on to earn two master degrees; one in Rehabilitation Services from University of Arkansas and the other in Nursing from the University of Colorado Boulder.  She married Charles in 1970, the two just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.  She devoted her life to her family and was happiest spending time with her grandchildren.

Marie enjoyed a long and diverse career as a nurse and nursing educator.  She began as a captain in the Army Nursing Core during the Viet Nam War.  In Tucson, she was a nursing instructor, clinical coordinator, and director of nursing at Pima Community College.  She was most recently a nursing supervisor at the VA Hospital.

Marie is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Nicole and William; and grandchildren, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Raya, Billy, Alex, and Nicolas.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Brings Broadway Chapel
