Obituary of Leo Lujan

Leo Lujan February 17, 1939 - December 16, 2017 Leo Lujan, 78 of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully on December 16, 2017 at home. He was born in Santa Fe, NM on February 17, 1939, the son of Jose Arturo and Cesaria Gonzales Lujan. He attended Guadalupe Elementary School and graduated from St. Michael's High School in Santa Fe, NM. He also spent time at Seminary in San Antonio, TX and a Christian Brothers School in LA. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1957 to November 1959. He was married to Laura Lee Meredith on July 18, 1959. He attended the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, TX and New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM. Leo was very loving and caring to everyone and enjoyed everything that life has to offer. He was very generous and would go out of his way to help anyone. He never met a stranger and loved to talk. He was active in the Catholic Church especially with the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Benedictine Monastery. He also was active with the Civitian and Lions Clubs and served on the School Board in Socorro, NM. Leo owned and operated Steadman Funeral Home in Socorro, NM from 1968 to 1982 and worked in funeral homes in Los Angeles, CA, Santa Fe, NM and El Paso, TX. He also was a Deputy Medical Investigator for Socorro County and worked at the State Medical Investigators Office in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife Laura Lee, a son Randy and wife Ericka, a daughter Marissa and husband Mark and 2 grandchildren, Shaun and Megan, one brother, Peter Lujan of Denver, CO, 2 sisters, Cecelia Baca and husband Jake of Chamita, New Mexico and Juanita C de Baca and husband Richard of Santa Fe, NM, many nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and a great great niece. Leo was preceded in death by his parents Jose Arturo and Cesaria Lujan, two sisters, Maria Rivera (husband Arthur), Dolores Torres (husband Bob), one brother Arturo all of Santa Fe, NM, and 1 sister-in-law Evelyn Lujan of Denver, CO. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Parish, 1375 South Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ. Burial will follow on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers the family wishes contributions be made to the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS SCHOLARSHIP FUND or ST. VINCENT DePaul SOCIETY, both are located at St. Francis de Sales Parish.
