Obituary of Lawrence Jack McClelland

Lawrence "Larry" McClelland Larry passed away on December 17, 2011 at Peppi's House in Tucson, AZ after a very short struggle with lung cancer. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA on January 27, 1945 to Jack and Barbara McClelland. Larry's maternal ancestors have deep roots in Santa Barbara, CA. His fifth great-grandfather, Lt. Jose Francisco de Ortega, was one of the first Spaniard scouts to explore Alta California in 1769 and became the first Commandant of Santa Barbara's Royal Presidio. His great-grandfather, Dr. Owen O'Neill, was one of the first physicians in Santa Barbara County. Larry grew up in California and spent most of his life in the San Francisco and Sacramento areas. In 1964, Larry began a 29 year career with ElectroRep in San Francisco, a Manufacturer's Representative Company focused on sales to the electrical industry. He became a partner in 1970 and left the company in February 1993 when he was diagnosed with liver failure. Larry received a liver transplant in August 1993 and a kidney transplant in 2008. Larry returned to the electrical sales industry in 2000 and was employed by Herning Underground and Wesco International. Larry is survived by Darlene Jerome with whom he shared his life for the past 12 years and who was also his kidney donor; a daughter, Jennifer Klinefelter of Orangevale, CA; son-in-law, Steve Klinefelter; grandchildren, Shane and Shelby Klinefelter; a sister, Georgia McClelland of Fremont, CA and his mother Barbara McClelland also of Fremont, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack McClelland and a sister, Mary. A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held in January.
