Obituary of Stephani Ann Miller

Stephani "Stephi" Ann Miller died peacefully in hospice among family early Monday morning, December 19, 2011 just three months after her father. A third generation Tucsonan (named for her great-grandmother, Estafana de Badilla). As a girl, she was the artist of the family. She played clarinet all through school and performed in the University of Arizona Marching and Concert bands. Stephi graduated from Rincon High School in 1969 and she graduated from the U of A with honors in 1974 with a Degree in Elementary Education. Stephi left Tucson and taught for several years in Bowie and Safford, Arizona, she worked at Burr Brown, Texas Instruments and Coventry Healthcare. She lived in California but came back to Tucson in the late 1980's. She was an artist and musician, always seeking out new instruments to learn. Stephi was a lifetime lover of music, and a big enthusiast for local musicians. Stepho's favorite activity in life was going to see her friends play jazz. She also loved going to Bread and Butter Café and was very close to everyone there. In February of this year she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died fighting to the very end. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ernestine and Duane Miller. She is survived by her siblings, Donna Casey (Mike), Michal Wartell (Terry), Duane Miller (Patty), Theodore Miller, Sarah Crotty and Elizabeth Kessler; her cousin, Ray Peterson, Jr. (Sue); her nieces and nephews, Kelly, Shannon (Bobby), Anthony, Erin, JJ (Emily), Michael, Pat, Aimie (Jon), Matthew, Andrew, Zachary and Katlyn; grand-cousin and namesake, Stephani and her grandnieces and nephews, Sean, Cassidy, Jayden, Masyn, Freya and Fenn and her many friends. Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society . Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
